Micro-Melt Maxamet from Carpenter Technology is an exceptional tool steel specifically designed for rolling red hot steel billets. Spyderco is considered a pioneer in the use of this sophisticated material as a blade steel. Another member of the Maxamet elite family is the Sage 5 Lightweight. It showcases this incredibly hard, ultra-tough material in its fully flat ground blade and houses it in a lightweight, bi-directional textured handle. All other features match those of the standard version of this model such as skeletonized stainless steel liners, a high-strength compression lock, non-slip gray FRN handle scales, and a reversible wire clip (tip-up).
